Since 2016, Further Along has led service based projects in the New Orleans area focusing on wetland restoration as well as supporting local community based organizations.
Over the next year, with the help of our fantastic volunteers, corporate sponsors and community members, Further Along will plant over 10,000 Cypress Trees as we collectively continue to make an impact on the vitally important ecosystem of the Lake Maurepas wetlands and waterways.
Further Along delivers these service opportunities (and lodging for extended trips) via our excursion bus the Merry Green Marvel, our Volunteer Center in the swamps adjacent to Lake Maurepas, and through our relationships with local churches and schools.

The Need
Over the last 20 years, there has been acute damage and land loss in the coastal regions, waterways, lakes and bayous in Louisiana. The number and intensity of hurricanes and a history of canal construction have made lake and waterway restoration more important now than ever.
